An Awesome Week in Chile!

Hey fam,

So this week was really good. After the earthquake it has been really hard to refocus and get things back to normal because obviously there are a lot of distractions and things that have changed here. We received a great blessing this week when two General Authorities named Elder Cañoles and Elder Zeballos came to talk to the missionaries in our area. They spoke of the prophecies of the last days and how we’ll be protected, but that we need to keep doing our responsibilities. They talked about personal experiences that they had on their missions and the importance of hard work. They told really inspirational stories about ¨dead¨ sectors and wards that they were able revive and really gave me more motivation to go to work. That day we entered in 8 houses and put 2 baptismal dates and had return appointments with 5 houses and got the addresses of all of them. It was a really great day. Later in the week we were able to find some old investigators that we haven’t taught in a while and put a couple more baptismal dates. That day two other Elders called us and gave us a referral of a girl named Ivonne that they’ve been teaching that has already attended church two times, and has all the teachings except for Tithing and the Plan of Salvation and has a baptismal date for the 28th. She had been staying at a friend’s house for a few weeks, who is a member, but she lives in our ward boundaries so she’ll be baptized here! So that was awesome J! Yesterday we had 7 investigators come to church and a few inactive people that came back as well. Elder Mayberry and Sarmiento had 9 investigators in church that day, so we were all really excited. Anyways it’s been a week full of contacts, new investigators, new baptismal dates, and people in church J! A pretty dang good week if you ask me. The only thing that kinda sucks is that this transfer ends the 22nd so I don’t know if I’ll be around to see any more baptisms here. I’m okay though, it’ll be cool to move to a new sector, but we’ll see what happens.

On Thursday there was another earthquake here. It was decently strong, a 7.2, but it was really short so it wasn’t too bad. We were in a house where the roof had collapsed during the first earthquake cleaning up, so that was interesting. I thought the rest of the house would come down, but nothing happened. It’s really weird, but I don’t feel scared when these earthquakes and aftershocks happen, I just find them really interesting and kind of entertaining (weird I know) but it’s kinda fun feeling the earth move under you. Obviously I don’t like that people are suffering and are without homes and food and stuff though. Last night was kind of interesting too. At about 9:00 pm the electricity in ALL of Chile, every part of the Country, went out. We were all thinking what else could happen now, but it was only out for an hour. It’s definitely an interesting time to be here that’s for sure. Anyways there ya go for this week, Love you all tons!
