Crazy stufff!!!! Flight plans are in....the good thing is that i feel that it´s all unreal right now, and there´s not too much trunkyness happening haha, i have really good missionaries in the house with me, so we´re working hard to help the mission and the zone. See you all in a month!
This week was good as far as our goals went. We got everyone we could to church, and several others are progressing really really well for their baptisms. One in particular called me this week and told me that she, Mariela, had decided to get baptized for sure. She wanted to know how soon she could do it (words every missionary wants to hear!) and we taught her the last lesson her and her husband, mauricio, needed before she can get interviewed for baptism. She is so excited and told us that she had been thinking about baptism non stop and reading the book of mormon at work. She prayed to God and asked Him if getting baptized was really what He wanted for her. On her way home from work she passed a church where they were singing hymns and it reminded her of our church, she then saw a graffiti on the wall that said ¨God is love¨ and she told us that everything was just reminding her of God and the church. When she got home she prayed again and asked that God gave her an answer while searching the scriptures. She opened up in the Bible and found a scripture that talked about the importance of repentance and doing it now. She took it as her answer and called us right away, she said her husband didn´t even know, and that we were the first to know. We are so happy for her and her husband right now. he´s a less active member who i told you guys about. He was baptized and worked a lot with the elders afterward, helping them in the work. He later was inactive for about 5 years, but when he found his wife he decided to start putting his life back in order, and he felt so blessed that he wanted to show God his love for Him. he came to church and brought his wife with him. She loved it and they had been talking about getting her baptized for a while now. She already knows about the temple and wants to seal herself to him, but there´s still some work to do. They´re just barely starting to change their lives, so there´s a few bad habits that they both want to get rid of, but they´re doing so well right now. She´ll be interviewed on Tuesday and if she passes she´ll be baptized this Sunday!! pray for her!
Next we have Jorge and his family. They were the only ones who came to church on Sunday, because the rest of our investigators had work. he came this week with his wife, Rosa, and his daughter, Karen. They really enjoyed church this time, he said even more than the first time they went. he´s progressing so well, but unfortunately his family is not progressing as quickly, but they´re gettin there. Everything that we´ve taught him has been accepted right away. This week we taught him the word of wisdom, and he told us that he would love to follow it and leave all those things behind him for good. he really was only drinking coffee at the time, but has been a smoker in the past. He said that all these things that we´re teaching him have come at the perfect time cuz he actually had a doctor´s appointment where they told him that he neeeded to stop drinking coffee for the rest of his life, so it was perfect timing! he also has a baptismal date for this week, but we still need to go over some stuff soo we´ll see what we can do. he´s such a humble, obedient, spiritual guy and has just eatin up everything we´ve taught him. Now we just need his family to get going also. His daugher, Karen, really liked YW´s cuz they just took her in and made her feel like one of the group. It was great.
we also are teaching another Mariela who is great. We taught her the word of wisdom this week, and it was one of the few if not the only time i have taught that lesson and the investigator has ended up in tears. The spirit was soo strong and it was awesome being able to invite her to keep this commandment, and knowing that she was going to accept for sure. She has a baptismal date for the 4th of September, and is progressing really well. I have found that the key to help an investigator progress is making sure and beingt on them all the time about their book of mormon reading. Those that read, progress, and those that don´t, don´t. the book of mormon is such a powerful converting tool and has been key in several baptisms on my mission. Keep that in mind Mack for your mish.
The rest of the week was full of knocking doors, with little luck, but we´ve found some good people. Elder Glazier is slowly getting there with his spanish, andn it´s really fun training hiim. He has a great attitude and is really positive, so it´s been fun having someone like that pushing me along, and me being able to train and teach him. The zone isn´t doing so hot. Actually for this month we´re probably going to end with only 4 or 5 baptisms in the whole zone and they were all from Elder Glazier and I or Elder Dalton and Elder Ames, all of which are in our house. We´re trying to figure out what we can do to help the zone follow that example of success, so that all around we have success every month. That´ll be our focus for the rest of the transfer, how to help the zone be more constant. Luckily for us though, the success just keeps on going and i know that there´s more in the future!
I love you all ton and hope that you all enjoy the beginning of the school year! that was always my favortie time of year, so just eat it up and have fun! Especially you Mckay! Eat up your senior year cuz you won´t get it back. I love you all tons and can´t wait to hear from you next week and I want to hear from Mckay and Amy about their first week of school!
love,
Tanner
