Okay so we just had the biggest roller coaster ride of a week ever. We´re still fighting to get new investigators, but we didn´t get to work every day this week, and i´ll tell why in a bit. We have an investigator named Isaías who we´ve been teaching for a little over a month that has been reading, praying, and really likes sharing with us, but we haven´t been able to put a baptismal date with him, cuz he doesn´t want to put a specific date. He also hadn´t come to church for all this time. With the way he sounds one would think why we´re still teaching him, but everytime we go over there i feel the spirit and feel like it´s a place where we need to be and just have patience. On Friday we went over with Sister Oportu and her daughter Claudia to visit Isaías and his wife, Alicia. It was such a natural and comfortable conversation and everyone was sharing different spiritual experiences that they had had in their lives, and the Oportu´s shared why they left the Evangelical church and were baptized in ours. Isaías and his wife are both Evangelical so it was perfect. The spirit was really strong and I was in tears as I told them that we weren´t there just cuz we wanted them to join our church and add to our numbers. Elder Conley earlier expressed to me that he wished that the people could understand how much we love them and that that´s why we want them to be baptized. I told Isaías and his wife that that was the reason we were there, becuase we loved them we wanted them to receive the fulness of the Gospel through baptism and making other covenants with the Lord. The spirit was powerful and they were both affected by it. They expressed their desire to see their loved ones who have passed on, and both were in tears as they expressed their love for their parents, and the peace that they´ve received in their lives through the knowledge of a resurrection. Isaías really wants to receive an answer and has been reading, praying, and meditating but still hasn´t received anything. I told him that he needs to come to church and be consistent in doing these things and I promised him that he would receive an answer. He looked at me and said that he would come to church on Sunday!! This really was a miracle and it was awesome to feel the spirit and see the them influenced by it.
We also had other miracles this week, one being Brother Wenceslao. We had a baptism on Saturday the 19th together with Elder Pierce and Elder Hafen, who had two baptisms. It was a great service and a lot of people came, including President Humphrey and his wife cuz they had to have a capacitation with the Stake afterward. Wenceslao was baptized by the Stake President and was in tears by the end of the service. He really felt the love of the members and is doing great. We was confirmed on Sunday, and I was able to confirm him, only my third confirmation in the mission.
Elder Conley has been having some weird pains in his heart lately, so Sister Humphrey told us that after our baptism she wanted us to get on a bus to go to Concepción and get some tests done in the hospital. We got there about 6:30pm and they did a lot of tests, but couldn´t find anything out of the ordinary. We left at 10:30pm with our mission´s secretaries, Elder and Sister Fishbeck. About 5 minutes later Elder Conley grabbed his chest and started breathing really heavily. He then went into shock and told me he couldn´t see or feel anything, his body was completely numb. We hurried and turned around to go back to the hospital. we got him back in and they put him on a stretcher and hooked him up to a bunch of machines. He by this time was having a seizure and couldn´t control his breathing. He scared me big time cuz he stopped shaking, stopped breathing, and just stared blankly at the ceiling, i literally thought that he had died. But thankfully he didn´t, but he was completely dilusional and kept asking me where we were and then he´d blank out. He was like this for about an hour, and then snapt out of it. When he finally came to he asked me how we had gotten there, and when i responded he said, well i´m good to go and tried to get up haha i told him to lay back down. He said a lot of funny stuff after that, but thankfully he was fine. President and Sister Humphrey came up to see him, and he had a few other tests done. They couldn´t find anything wrong with him, so they gave him a few muscle relaxants and sent us on our way...chilean doctors. President took us to their house to stay the night. Basically they live in the pent house sweet of the nicest building i´ve ever been in haha. We ate pizza and then went to bed in giant beds with massive pillows. I felt that i had stepped out of Chile and straight into a millionaire´s home in the State´s. We stayed there Saturday night, went to church on Sunday and then came back Sunday night, so we´ve been pampered pretty well the last few days. We woke up in the morning to the view of 100´s of palm trees outside our deck and tons of birds singing to us. I looked over at Elder Conley and said, with a big grin on my face, ¨we´re in paradise.¨ We´re going back to our sector today with some medicine to keep Conley´s body calm, and we´re going to see how he does. We have to go back to Concepción tomorrow to see a doctor that´s coming down from Santiago.
Soooooooo we´ve been having some adventures lately, hopefully they´ll come to an end so we can get things back to normal. All in all it was a weekend of miracles, scares, and more miracles. The whole time Elder Conley was having his attack, i was praying and begging God to help his servant be okay, I felt a strong peace come over me, and even though I was still scared I knew things would be okay. I was humbled to know that God would take the time to answer my prayer in the very moment I was praying to him and let me know that He was in charge. Pray for my comp, for Isaías, and for our success these last few weeks of our transfer.
Thanks for everything you guys do, it sounds like everything´s going awesome back home, except for all the cold haha, we´re still enjoying nice beautiful weather here, but it´s coming to an end soon.
